Commission Process
Your Reference Photo
Choosing a good reference photo for artwork is crucial to achieving a successful piece. Here are some tips to help you select the best reference:
Clarity and Quality
- Use high-resolution images with sharp details. Blurry or pixelated photos make it harder to discern fine details like texture, lighting, and structure.
- Ensure the image has good contrast; details should be distinguishable in both shadowed and highlighted areas.
Lighting
- Look for clear, dynamic lighting that enhances depth and form. Natural light or a single light source often works well for defining shapes and creating interesting shadows.
- Avoid overexposed or underexposed images unless you're going for a specific dramatic effect.
Composition
- Choose a photo with a strong focal point and a balanced composition. For portraits, ensure the subject is centred or framed well.
- Avoid cluttered backgrounds unless they are part of the story you want to convey.

Artwork Completion
Drawings: Typically require 4-6 weeks for completion, depending on the complexity of the subject and the level of detail required.
Paintings: Require a minimum of 6 weeks to ensure proper layering, drying time (if applicable), and attention to detail.
Please note that these timelines may vary slightly based on the specific project, medium, and size of the piece. Early booking is recommended to accommodate any adjustments and ensure the best quality outcome.
Payment
Terms
Deposit: A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your commission and reserve your place in line. Commissions are completed in the order of bookings.
Approval and Final Payment: Once the artwork is complete, a photo of the final piece will be sent to you for approval. The remaining 50% balance must be paid before the artwork is shipped or delivered.
This ensures a smooth and transparent process, allowing me to dedicate the necessary time and care to your custom piece.
Shipment of Artwork
Unframed Drawings: All unframed drawings are carefully rolled and shipped in a sturdy tube. Each piece is wrapped in acid-free paper to protect it from smudging, creasing, and environmental damage during transit.
Framed Drawings and Paintings: All framed artwork is securely packaged in a reinforced box to ensure safe delivery. Each piece is carefully wrapped in acid-free paper to protect the surface and bubble wrap for cushioning against impact during transit.
Shipping Method: Your artwork will be shipped using a reliable carrier with tracking information provided for peace of mind.
Packaging: Every effort is made to ensure the artwork arrives in pristine condition.
